Beautiful tree Vlad, developing very nicely.

I'm more than a little jealous.

I'm not sure we have many Prunus Mahaleb here in the UK (although I might be wrong about that - anybody know?). We do have many Prunus Spinosa which I know can make great bonsai but round here at least they're all ram rod straight and difficult to collect (my few attempts have all resulted in failure Crying or Very sad ).

Anyway enough of my complaining! Your efforts at collecting this great material are definitely paying off! Another great tree.

      Regards

This ones developing nicely. has an aged, rugged look with that bark and the dead wood elements work well.

Sloe are really great species for bonsai. I do like prunus family as a whole but mahalebs and sloe are my all time favourites.

Richard, Bobby, thank you very much for your encouragement.

2018 ?Winter look. ?Another year of a slow development. ?De-wired and lightly pruned.

Mahalebs at least in my place are not very keen on changing colors in the autumn. ?Sometimes they may got a bit yellowish but thats all. ?Most of the time they just move from green leaves to no leaves.

The main branch still looks too thin and there are some other things that needs ?more time and effort.

You may feel a bit dizzy looking on the strangely angled pot. ? I plan to change the planting angle at time of next repotting. ?This one doesn't look too bad...

      Ahoj Vlad,

Beautiful tree, and I think you've done a great job.

To me, the basic structure of the tree is here.

      Czesc Alain,
well, I was lucky to find a yamadori with great potential. ?

The main challenge then was to decide the direction where to go. ?Back in the 2012-13 I was thinking also about the option as drawn by abcd. ? But finally I have decided to follow the existing trunk line as a main feature/characteristic.

      Glad you like it.

      Hello Vlad,
The ramification is starting to show! Nice!

Which one of the two photos is your preferred front, may I ask?
Those black chunks on the surface of substrate are they charcoal?

      Hi Alexandra,
for the time being my preferred front is the one with the top jin facing right ie the firs pic on the latest update.
Black chunks? ?Let me see - going to check to be sure Question ? ?Charcoal is there somewhere under the surface. The stuff on the top are remains of Biogold. ? You do take a close look, don't ya, ?my friend ?Cool.
